Founder of the association
A Parisian who has travelled to Brazil several times and lived there for over two years, Ratazana discovered capoeira in France in 2000 and met his master Mestre Pedigree in Rio in 2004.
He has been teaching capoeira to adults for 20 years (since 2006 — founding of Association Senzaleiros), and to children for 15 years, in Paris (10th, 11th, 18th) and in Levallois since 2018.
Master of the group
Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Mestre Pedigree began Capoeira in 1989 with the Senzala group of Mestre Peixinho and started teaching in 1996. In 2006 Pedigree arrived in France. He settled in Saint-Étienne and began developing Capoeira there.
In 2009 he was one of the founding members of Grupo Capoeira Malungos, and received his red cord as Mestre de Capoeira in 2016 from the hands of Mestre Amendoim, of the Capoeira Senzala group of Brasília.
Teacher
Motoqueiro began capoeira in 2009 at Association Senzaleiros, the year Grupo Capoeira Malungos was created. He travels regularly to take part in festivals across Europe and is also known for his work as a photographer of our art.
He has been teaching occasionally at the Association since 2024. In 2026 he officially received his blue cord as a Capoeira teacher.
Teacher
Camundonga started capoeira in 2011: it was love at first sight for Capoeira's physical training, quickly joined by a passion for the musical side. Involved in the Malungos group, Camundonga is also active in a network of women capoeiristas who encourage and support each other as they progress.
She has been teaching occasionally at the association since 2024. In 2026 she officially received her blue cord as a Capoeira teacher.
Association Senzaleiros was born in 2006 from a group of friends gathered around Ratazana. It is now the Paris chapter of Grupo Capoeira Malungos, present in Rio de Janeiro, Saint-Étienne, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Bayonne…
Every year, the Malungada festival brings capoeiristas from Brazil and all over Europe to Paris: classes, rodas, music and cord ceremonies.
More than a sport: percussion, songs in Portuguese, samba, maculelê — a real immersion in Brazilian culture.
